Northern Hideaway caters to all that want to experience the outdoors. Perhaps you are not a hunter or fisherman but want to experience the Maine woods. We can tailor a trip for whatever you are looking for.
Cross-country ski or snowshoe down our frozen rivers and through the winter woods is an experience itself. Perhaps you would like to spend some time venturing into the deer and moose yards and looking for shed antlers. Top this off with a sauna at the end of the day.
Maybe you want to experience the St John River or Allagash Wilderness Waterway but do not want to sleep in a tent. You can leave the camp in the morning canoe or kayak a section of the river and be brought back to camp to sleep in a soft bed at the end of the day.
Perhaps you would like to visit historic Seven Islands and view the old buildings of a forgotten time. The Simmons Farm and the history behind it are fascinating and not known by many. We would like to share all this with you.
Photographers of all abilities will find our area rich in possibilities. The scenery is spectacular and wildlife abounds. Moose, bear, deer, two species of grouse and beaver are common.
Otter, marten, and many different species of birds are here for photo possibilities. For the adventurous photographer we offer our winter trips. Watching over a bait station, one may see coyotes, fox, eagles, or the lynx.
Maybe you just want to get away from it all. No phones, no email, nothing but the serenity of the surrounding woods and waters. No schedule except the one you set. Swim in the river and explore at your own convenience. It’s all up to you!
